Enorthedaks

For the most part, going against the grain, standing alone, speaking my truth even when no one wanted to hear it was my specialty, little did I know at the time, what was being criticized so strongly by others would eventually become my greatest strength.

Enorthedaks

Growing up celebrating holidays in different ways that fell on different days from my friends and neighborhood communities, I have come to realize that much of who I am and what I stand for can be considered unorthodox.

I value tradition, in the most untraditional sense of the word.

Having lived what feels like a thousand lifetimes in my 37 years of life, through the trials and tribulations I have created a list of vows that have helped me align with who I am in every way that matters to my heart, body and soul.

So, what is a vow? A promise you make to yourself about how you want to live your life. A declaration of self-love from yourself to yourself. What matters to you? What do you value?

It’s also important to note that I decide if and when I want to change, shift, alter or delete my vows when they no longer align with who I feel am.

For the most part, going against the grain, standing alone, speaking my truth even when no one wanted to hear it was my specialty, little did I know at the time, what was being criticized so strongly by others would eventually become my greatest strength.

Below are some examples of the vows I have created to living my enorthedaks life …

  • Stop asking permission for what you want, go after it like your life depends on it

  • Learn the value of yes and the power of no – you are allowed to be happy without feeling guilty

  • Say and do the things that scare the shit out of you – that is how you will grow

  • Shed all things, people, places and beliefs that don’t belong to you

  • Do your inner work, again, and again, and again and then keep going

  • Throw a house party for all your fears, demons, negative self-talk, celebrate the wisdom filled lessons they brought you and send them to the light

  • Unfollow the rules, everything that you were taught to believe about yourself, others and the world – you get to decide who you want to be

  • Always rise above with gratitude even when you fantasize about going lower

  • Move accordingly when shit doesn’t feel right – trust your instincts and ability to stand in your power

  • Remember you didn’t come this far to only come this far – faith is forever

I dare you to create your list of life vows that feel right to you and follow them with every ounce of who you are.
